  • 2010 Women Artists of the West "WAOWing the Golden State"

    June 16, 2010 - April/May/June

I did our taxes in April, and started getting ready for the 40th WAOW National Juried Exhibition in San Diego.  I reframed two of the pieces for the show in museum frames, made all my hotel and car reservations, packed the three Airfloat Strongboxes for shipping, and got ready for my trip to San Diego.  What a blur..... Sorry about not blogging.  Too much going on!  I enjoyed meeting the WAOW women attending the opening at the Olaf Wieghorst Museum in El Cajon.  What a gorgeous show!  I am awed by the talent of this group of women artists.  Thanks to the Wieghorst Museum and the WAOW women who made this all possible.  I took Peggi Kroll-Roberts' advice to heart and I am following my heart.  I have 1800 photos to paint from with a renewed spirit.  The Gulf Disaster has spurred me to paint my beloved birds and wildlife before we destroy our planet and its precious cargo.  Hope you enjoy my future paintings!

  • Happy New Year!

    January 19, 2010

Hope you enjoyed your holidays and time with family and friends!  I reorganized my studio the last two weeks, which I desperately needed to do, and now I am ready for the new decade.   I had a closet that wasn't being utilized for organizing the many supplies I needed to store.  Wow (or WAOW) -- what a difference!  I have new goals to achieve for 2010 and the next few years.  I am returning to where I started in 1999 ... the subjects I love and what I would like to paint for the rest of my life.  I love painting wildlife and birds, landscapes, aspen and horses.  I hope you see a new joy in my work in future shows.

  • Enjoy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!

    November 16, 2009

Happy Holidays to all!  Enjoy the spirit of the season and family traditions, being with friends and those you love!

It's time to get creative and paint for me .... See you next year!

  • PPWS Signature Members Show at Tri-Lakes Center

    October 1, 2009

I apologize for not updating my website.  September was a very busy month with the CWS New Trends Show, the PPWS Signature Member's Show, and the WAOW Online Show.   I helped hang the New Trends exhibit at the Co-Art Gallery.  That was tough with the hanging system - it was like hanging the show multiple times to position each painting on the vertical hangers!  There are only a few more days for the Signature Member show at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts.  The opening for the PPWS show was on Setember 11th and the opening for the CWS show was on September 18th.  I also tried plein air painting for the first time and enjoyed it.  I look forward to more painting outside in the future.

  • CWS New Trends Show, Santa Fe Arts District in Denver

    August 4, 2009

The Colorado Watercolor Society's 2009 New Trends Show will be held in Denver at the CO-Art Gallery located at 846 Santa Fe Drive in Denver.  This show was juried by Nancy Condit (Abend Gallery) and will be held from September 18 through September 26, 2009, in the Santa Fe Arts District.  Hope you stop in to see the show.

"Frosty February Sunrise" will be in the New Trends Show and is another of the new landscapes I am creating.  I love the colors and fluidity of these paintings.  They were created from my memory of the moment as well as reference photos.  Each tells a story. I hope you like my work whether realistic or more impressionistic!

The August Southwest Art arrived today!  WaOW!  The advertisement looks beautiful!  My ad is larger than I thought it would be and the painting looks great.  Nice editorial on page 84.  Looking forward to seeing the Online Show August 1st!

Since being juried in as an Associate Member in September of last year, I have been impressed by the caliber of artists in this organization.  I am honored to be in such company!  I greatly appreciate the hard work of these talented women in support of WAOW.  They are awesome!

  • WAOW Selected for Southwest Art Article

    May 12, 2009

Southwest Art magazine is going to do an editorial in their August issue about Women Artists of the West (WAOW)

There will be a group WAOW advertisement in that same issue, and I will be participating in that ad!  This is a first for me.  I have never placed an ad in a national publication.  It's exciting!
